I really like the EU, it’s a triumph of liberal democracy, a free trade area that is the envy of the world. It is strong, stable, coherent and a moderator of shock jock extremists.
@MichelBarnier
I’m looking forward to continued membership and my rights and freedoms.

“...a triumph of liberal democracy...” in response to a tweet from an unelected bureaucrat seeking to interfere in the internal policy making of an elected government!
-
If you don’t understand the EU, that’s your problem.
-
I understand the EU and voted remain but to call it a democratic institution is stretching credulity to its limits.
-
It's got it's faults for sure, but how democratic is the WTO for ordinary UK citizens, we won't be voting for representatives of that post Brexit.
-
Brexit is taking away democratic control from UK citizens, as we get no influence in our wider continent anymore.
-
We'll have even less influence *if* we Brexit!

However, the EU are still in control and I fear will always be in control as there are enough people doing very nicely out of it on a very personal level.
-
Who? I've never understood this argument. Who is profiting from it while us ordinary people do not?

Brexiters bang on about the importance of democracy while ignoring the fact that Vote Leave cheated, LeaveDotEU cheated, BeLeave cheated, and Veterans for Britain & the DUP appear to have cheated. It's almost like they don't really give a stuff about democracy, only brexit.
-
All to win by the narrowest of margins
-
Gosh it's funny how bad losers always yell cheat. Democracy is about accepting that you're not always going to have your way, sometimes the other guy gets a go.
-
Democracy is about adhering to electoral law. Which Vote Leave, BeLeave and LeaveDotEU did not do, according to the Electoral Commission. Stand up for democracy. Reject brexit.

Democracy, according to
@JuliaHB1, means that one is not allowed to express emotions like regret. Democracy requires that different opinions must be silenced. Democracy demands that 48% of an electorate must sacrifice their views at the altar of Brexit.https://twitter.com/JuliaHB1/status/1016338218705440768?s=19 … -
And no sneering either. Sneering is criticism, and criticism of Brexit must be prohibited.
-
But we all know that Brexit means we must do the will of the ERGocracy!
