And in 1975 we were told there'd be no loss of sovereignty. How'd that work out?

Are you still believing that deception? We've never lost sovereignty or control. We had the power of veto all along. Why do you think we still have the pound, and not 'forced' to use the euro.
-
Under the terms of the 1972 European Communities Act Parliament cannot pass laws that are contrary to EU law. Loss of sovereignty.

Each country has it's own criminal law system, family law system and civil laws. Nothing changes that. The European Court of Justice was signed up by Churchill in 1950, long before the Common Market.

Well it's quite a protracted case, so Wikipedia provides a useful summary. I'm sure you can follow the links to the references and sources cited though for the detail.

No pretence remains, the political establishment is at one in thinking the British people are stupid and will believe anything. However you ‘polish this turd’ of a deal, it’s a betrayal. None of the Brexiteers fell on their sword to protect what the British people voted for.

Curious to know if James has read Martin Howe QC’s latest paper as what he said is utterly incompatible with operation of EU law
