Julia, I understand that you're innumerate, so have a good friend explain to you how close the numbers 48 and 52 really are. Then find a literate friend to explain the difference between "advisory" and "binding" If they need them, I will be happy to provide the crayons.

Gary doesn't appear to understand that Parliament has endorsed the 'advisory' referendum decision by voting for Article 50, twice rejected amendments to remain in Single Market and Customs Union and put the Withdrawal Bill, which takes us out of the EU in March 2019, into UK law.

Does Gary realise that 52 is bigger than 48 so that equates to what we call a democratic majority!

He isn't that clever, He is using total numbers instead of percentages which as any "numerate" person knows are proportionate to the total. So small apparent total difference can be large actual differences. A common trick used by MPs, car dealers and remainers

He’ll like these then. Total % of eligible voters voting remain approx 35%, leave 37%, abstain 28%, add abstain to leave as an abstain equates to agreeing the outcome, 65%. 65 is muchly bigger than 35 or is that different under EU mathematics? 🤔😃

Of course it's different. Under EU mathematics abstentions count as "super remain" votes and actually count as double. Triple if Diane Abbot did the sums.
