But you can distinguish between a belief and a characteristic? One is a conscious decision by a human being that indicates a series of complex decisions that can then be judged and acted upon by others in reaction? Whereas a characteristic is, mostly, not a decision?
-

-
Yes, but which one does religion come under. A characteristic or a choice? And who gets to decide?
-
But you didn’t just mention religion. You actually mentioned race and sexuality first. Why was this? If you understand that discrimination against characteristics is wrong why even mention race or sexuality?

Because you are drawing a comparison when there isn't one, Julia, aren't you? A bit like the time silly old Coleen Nolan compared a gay cake to an ISIS cake! https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/coleen-nolan-causes-controversy-compares-5727321?service=tablet&widgetId=4705627 …
-
Well, yes, Julia, a comparison is a comparison and you made a comparison that you shouldn't have.

It's a political protest. Just as Rosa Parkes sat on the white side of the bus, which you might have shrieked about had u been there at the time.

Maybe it's going to start a new trend, restaurants/diners/cafes interviewing their customers before deciding whether or not to serve them? Aren't they supposed to be in business to provide a 'service', not pass judgement on their customer's personal/professional/political views?

I agree with you and if they don't want to serve all members of the public then they should not open a restaurant.

It's called empathy dear. It's called having moral principles, and showing solidarity with those who are being actively discriminated against. It's taking a stand for what's right; standing for more than your own vaunted egotism. I'm really not surprised it's a mystery to you.

Its a good point, if the restaurant had refused to serve her because she was gay, they would be prosecuted. But because she works for a republican she was refused service, then her family were hounded at the next restaurant, surely thats is a hate crime
-
I think with the more mentally challenged elements of the Left, just being a Conservative is a hate crime.
