Care homes regularly collude with unscrupulous GPs. Our family has personal experience of this. We were told that a relative had terminal cancer, after we'd questioned the standards of care. 3 years on, in a different home, she's gained weight and never actually had cancer

Some homes use the ruse that the patient "can't swallow" so is dehydrated to death. But if you give them a glass of water and spoon it to them they drink and look relieved they're now hydrated. This is intentional killing of our elderly.

Happened to my Grandmother in the 90s. So dehydrated she wasn't making sense, and they just put it down to dementia. No effort to give drink, just a jug and glass by the table. Within an hour of us being there she was back to her sharp self. It's called "nursing". Disgraceful.

Is that the new argument for NHs funding. Give us more money or we start killing patients?

Not killed Lives shortened. ..a side effect of giving opioids. A practice which is NOW governed muchbmore strictly Youd have to investigate every hospital and nursing from the time as it was widespread to alleviate pain and distress Very difficult to pick apart all the facts

This has the potential to be huge - “with no medical justification” is the damning phrase. If this is the case, then, each and every doctor, and member of medical staff, who administered these drugs, will have to be criminally investigated, no question.

Yes, and the government are ploughing billions more into the NHS so maybe they'll be able to cover up better than they have done.#unsustainable

I'm sure it's far higher than that but doctors need to stop covering for each other.
