Small point but ALL government spending, including the NHS and our subs to the EU, are paid for out of taxation or borrowing.* *Or the magic money tree, obviously.https://twitter.com/bethrigby/status/1008382739853250562 …

May in full spin mode today as she dressed up a spending boost for the #NHS as a #Brexitdividend. It’s no such thing; in reality the money will come from taxation, borrowing or cuts elsewhere. Hammond has to find the cash. Imagine his fury > https://news.sky.com/story/chancellor-philip-hammond-faces-perfect-storm-over-brexit-dividend-for-nhs-11407764 …

Huge point continually overlooked - there is NO SUCH THING AS GOVERNMENT MONEY - it is ours - the taxpayers' - money and our debt. This current lot are not fit to spend/manage the country's affairs on our behalf. Time for a big change.

Oh and btw "this lot" is not the so called Conservative Government, I am referring to the weaselly career politicians in all parties. There are honourable exceptions but the list of exceptions would be tiny in comparison...

I don’t mind paying when the NHS starts to realise less management and it can’t do everything for everyone. E.g Got a tattoo pay for removal

MMT doesn’t agree. We first spend into existence before borrowing or taxing. As a sovereign currency-issuing country, we can run deficits in confidence. @Frances_Coppola helps here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/francescoppola/2018/04/17/everything-youve-been-told-about-government-debt-is-wrong/#6fac65a3314f …

Shocking discovery - The Government doesn't have it's own revenue stream. No, it has to get it from it's citizens and businesses. Who would have thought it?

It will come from more taxes and borrowing not from Brexit savings, that’s the point.
