I’ve absolutely no issue with a trans person giving a keynote speech at the @BFI (even someone like Munroe who’s said some pretty awful stuff in her time).
But shouldn’t the keynote speech at an event about the experiences of women in film be delivered by a... woman?

Funded by the government, it's tax payers money hosting this little shindig. It's a boys night out jollie.

@MattHancock who is Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport of the United Kingdom since 2018, must have been surprised by the number of tweets directed at him when he logged in today. But not a word back, he is our representative in this. -
@MattHancock please respond on this issue. You have a responsibility as our representative to respond. This is public money being used to sideline and erase women and women’s experiences, at an event purporting to focus on those exact things. The keynote speaker is male. -
Are you all aware of this? Munroe has been given a keynote speech designed to be given by a woman in the industry, I daresay to inform & entertain, but a platform for a woman's voice. Gone. To a man with cosmetic surgery.

Bergdorf wasn’t happy when Rachel Dolezel, the woman who identified as black, did a program on Netflix but it’s ok for Bergdorf to identify as a woman and be the keynote speaker to celebrate women in films! You couldn’t make it up.

So apart from the penis thing and overtly racist comments what has Bergdorf achieved in film? Think of all the brilliant women both in front and behind the camera who would be fascinating to listen to.
-
Not just the penis thing: MB also instructed women at a women's march not to talk about women's reproductive health (one of the biggest issues of the day) because to do so excludes trans people. MB really doesn't like women.

Do have a look at some of the responses to the BFI's proud tweet on their page gushing about how "thrilled" they are to have Bergdorf as their keynote speaker. I am astonished they're not cowering with embarrassment, such is the overwhelming public revulsion for their choice...

Is she the one that claimed the Suffragettes were white supremacists ? Surely they could have found a less devicive female?
