Labour MP @CarolineFlintMP - who campaigned for Remain but respects the EU referendum result - making a staunch defence of Brexit on @daily_politics. I wish some Brexiteer MPs would make so strong a case!

Why don't you ask her, seeing the latest news of Russia funding of the Leave campaign and the fact that the ref. represent only about 26% of the UK population, how can any opposition MPs "respect the result"? Figures below👇pic.twitter.com/orONolNY6q

Shes a wise MP. Realises a) the importance of respecting democracy and b) that if it all fell apart there may be a week of rejoicing on twitter, but zero of the problens that led to brexit would be solved.

If you and she are so keen on democracy, then you’ll have no problem supporting a referendum on the “deal”, with the option to revert to EU membership. Will you?

Yes, Len, i would. Because the meat of democracy is built upon a skeleten of respecting votes. Your ambition is to embolden the EU tp offer us a bad deal to change the result. Its a dangerous and hugely disrespectful game. Leave 2016 behind. Ita s 2018 and look forward.

Democracy isn’t something that happens on a particular day. In light of the utter lack of a case that results in a net benefit to the country, as well as all the evidence that Brexit will damage the UK for years, why not put the decision in hands of the electorate (all of it)?

Flint is feart england becomes like Scotland, paying to join a club with no say. Scotland has been a net contributor to uk for over 300 yet gets next to nothing back of her own wealth. Time england got a taste of what Scots have had to put up with

Idiot. Scotland recieves money from UK taxpayers Wanting Scottish independence to then be ruled by Foriegn powers is plainly daft.

FACT.... Per head SCOTLAND sends more tax monies to Westminster than Ireland, England and Wales combined. And gets back between 8 /10 % to run our country. Facts, facts, it's all about the facts.

Like £21,000,000,000.00 of UK taxpayers money every year from 2021 to EU. Only a third comes back from 2016. Rebranded as EU funds When our money runs out European countries paying for membership may change their minds about unelected undemocratic secret laws and policies of EU

Well done and well said Caroline Flint. She blew @ChrisLeslieMP's false claim about immigration control in the EEA out of the water. An emergency brake, the application of which is not in the UK's hands, is not being in control of immigration.

I wonder exactly what aspect of #Brexit changed @CarolineFlintMP mind or was it just a profound sense of self preservation in fear of her constituents Exactly why do we have representatives and not delegates in Parliament?

If Labour were to respect the democratic result of the Referendum as Corbyn and McDonnell want they would possibly get elected. Appealing to minority Remainers is losing Labour support. Last election one pro EU 2nd Ref party had the worst results since 1928. #7pointsDown

Libdems got their worst result in elections since 1958 standing on pro EU 2nd Referendum ticket. All parties standing on this lost vote share from even their own supporters at last election. Minority shrinking viewpoint. Most are ReLeavers now!

If Labour were the party that respected the Referendum result and took us out of CU and SM then they would win the next election. Tories are betraying Brexit. At the moment Labour fighting Libdems for minority vote.
