This is indeed a wonderful story. But treating people “like human beings” doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone can choose to go and live in any country they fancy living in whenever they choose. Sorry, but it doesn’t.https://twitter.com/davidlammy/status/1001113379006795776 …

This is a wonderful story but I don't think that "migrants" should have to behave like superheroes before they are treated like human beings. Being a human being should be the only prerequisite to being treated like a human being. And that applies in the UK just as much as France https://twitter.com/BBCBreaking/status/1001022522723323904 …

What did Brits do during the long period of empire? Took off, took lands, settled where they wanted. Illegally

It just showed me you aren't safe from buglary even in a block of flats and he was up there so fast it made me wonder if he'd already had some practice.

I have a dream. I have a dream of a world where Yasmin alibhai Brown and David Lammy don't blame all the world's ills on white people and, where they make the occasional tweet not involving race or skin colour. I have a dream.

Thousands of migrants commit crimes & cause mayhem & carnage ... Don’t tar them all with the same brush it’s not fair. One migrant climbs a building ... Woohoo, migrants are truly awesome, lets open the doors wide & import the whole continent of Africa & half the Middle East 🤨🤨

No need to apologise Julia, it’s a fact. Another fact is if many didn’t behave like animals there wouldn’t be the high levels of ill feeling towards them.

Two separate issues! (reception and choice to migrate) If a migrant arrives, David is saying we should treat them decently.

Is @DavidLammy implying that all migrants should be given instant citizenship in any country of their choice? It would be nice to have his wording clarified on this.
