    Now do we see why AMLO accepted Remain in Mexico plan? US political impasse & inability to cope w/migrant families (and horrifying child deaths) has made Trump even more dependent on Mexico to stop CentAm surge. That will give AMLO real leverage. Question is what he does with it.

    72 hours is *max* anyone is supposed to be held in Border Patrol stations. This boy was held twice as long before he died. Violations of this rule aren’t new and were happening during separations as my colleagues and reported.

  20. Border Patrol now says they will start performing secondary medical checks on all children under 10, but it's unclear if they will have the staff or resources to prevent tragedies like this one. As Jacob points out, this child was held well past the 72 hour rule
