After moving forward with this political stunt without a vote on the floor to begin with, House Democrats are now attempting to legitimize their closed-door, partisan investigation only because the American people recognize their antics for what they are.

With this res., Speaker Pelosi has ensured that this process remains political theater & I will not vote to continue this inquiry on the exact same path it’s gone down for the last month. It’s time for this craziness to end & for the House to get back to doing the People’s work.

Investigations and witness depositions are not, ever, open to the public, and for a good reason, but I expect a former judge knows that. There is substantive evidence the president acted with corrupt intent. Do your duty, Mr Carter, and fulfill Congress' oversight responsibility.

Based on Mr. Carter's history of hyper-partisanship, I suspect he believes such behavior is just fine — as long as it's being done by a Republican.
