I'll note the ads that are featured in these newsletters (usually as "native" text) are propaganda. They all say "Facebook Supports Updated Internet Regulations" but if you dig deeper the only thing they support is new regulations saying Facebook should do what its already doing.

A lot of companies insist they have strict firewalls between editorial and advertising sales, but I'm not even sure that is possible with Punchbowl, which only has 4 employees. Their CEO is also one of the main writers.

This is a pretty standard advertising strategy… Most companies or groups that are advertising in the DC newsletters buy out multiple newsletters at the same time.
