    1. The shutdown is billed as a battle of wills between Schumer/Pelosi & Trump. This is the wrong way to look at it. Schumer/Pelosi don’t want to fund the wall but even if they did, they would be hard pressed to corral the necessary Democratic votes. This is all about McConnell.

        2. Anything that comes out of the Senate has to be bipartisan. The Senate unanimously passed a funding bill without wall funding a few days ago. McConnell could do it again. He’s not because his loyalty to Trump is stronger than any pressure he feels to end the shutdown.

        3. But there are already a couple of Republican Senators urging McConnell to pass a bill without the $5 billion in wall funding. McConnell just has to decide how long he wants this to last.

McConnell, Senate Majority Leader who won't do anything without Donald's permission/blessing. First time I've ever seen a legislative branch have to get permission from the executive branch. Yes, it's all about #McConnell #TrumpShutdown #SeparationOfPower

Trump is getting his mileage out of making McConnell's wife, Elaine Chao, the Secretary of Transportation. McConnell is firmly in the President's political pocket.

The Republicans didn’t have the votes. They had plenty of time to vote on this before and even after the election. This is just a Trump using an excuse to blame it on the Dems.

True. Americans didn’t just vote for Ds by an 8+ million vote margin so Ds could pass expensive hardline R legislation when Rs couldn’t be bothered to for two years with full control. That’s absurd

Trump had 2 years where the GOP controlled all branches of Government until yesterday when the control of one branch of government changed hands. THE GOP REFUSED TO FUND HIS WALL.

If trump and McConnell cared about the American people, they would accept that there are loads of things that the money needs be used for. Why should other people have to suffer, because you won’t admit that the wall is a foolish idea? 👀

it was billed like this even BEFORE Dems took over the House.. instead of Republicans controlled all House Senate and Presidency and couldn't pass wall funding and keep government open .. #FAIL

Yes, McConnell is the key, He has had the ignominious distinction of 'giving away' the veto power of the Senate! He is the shill for Trump~~far too often. Hope people of KY defeat him in 2020.

If Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans refuse to bring a Budget Bill passed by Congress to a vote in the Senate. Then HE is taking responsibility for the Partial Government shutdown.
