The first time President Obama met with his US Attorneys, he told us, “I appointed you but you don’t serve me. You serve the American people. And I expect you to act with independence & integrity.” None of us ever forgot that.

Another Alabama Coach weighs in on politics

This is really good reading and I believe an accurate account of the Kanye West Candice Owens Anti semitism story. My more liberal friends may not see it this way, but I believe it to be fair and true. I’m a Big Fan of @RealCandaceO twitter.com/dumisanitemsge…

Now we know why Eastman didn't want to give up his emails: "The messages were part of a batch of 8 emails..Eastman had sought to withhold from the 1-6 select committee but that a judge ordered turned over..describing them as evidence of likely crimes"

You make these calls as a prosecutor. Sacrificing a little fish to get the big fish, the most culpable person, can be the right call. Here, with someone who has eluded accountability for so long, it would be hard to criticize foregoing Patel to prosecute Trump.
Quote Tweet
The Guardian: In contemplating immunity for Trump advisor Kash Patel, DOJ would essentially be weighing whether to forgo a case against him in order to secure testimony that could lead to evidence against a more significant target — such as Trump.

Voter suppression comes in different forms: Alabama law requires county officials to notify voters of their polling location but some fail to publish info online, while info from others is inaccurate, contradictory or so lacking it fails to inform voters.

2/ In the 2nd case, lawyers amassed evidence of actual intimidation. Voters were videoed, harassed & threatened with doxxing. The judge imposed stricter rules for armed people who can’t go within 250 feet of a drop box. Armed intimidation of voters feels like 1963 in Alabama.

1/ This was the second of two voter intimidation cases assigned to Judge Liburdi. In the first case, he ruled in favor of the sometimes-armed people trying to intimidate voters using drop boxes. Why did the 2nd case come out differently than the 1st?
Quote Tweet
A fed'l judge in Arizona just granted a restraining order to keep armed people from intimidating voters within 75' of a drop off box. This is the right result, unlike an earlier Arizona case where a judge ruled in favor of the 1st Amendment rights of people harassing voters.

The GOP is perpetuating lies about Paul Pelosi instead of confronting the connection between rhetoric, tolerance of Trump & political violence. GO VOTE!

Sometimes, you need a little humor in the middle of all the serious to keep you from going crazy. Evidence that the Oath Keepers had a nice super at the Olive Garden following the insurrection.

This sounds awfully aspirational. Hard to believe Trump will agree to testify under oath, let alone in a forum he's not in complete control of.

New: Jan. 6 committee vice chair Liz Cheney says they are in discussion with lawyers about Trump’s potential testimony: “We have not made determinations about format, but it will be done under oath. It will be done over multiple days.”

The 11th Circuit affirmed the district court, which gives Graham the ability to object to questions that fall within speech & debate while requiring him to answer questions about Trump & election interference in Georgia. Seemed likely SCOTUS would affirm. Good to see in print.

3/ The man who attacked Paul Pelosi was charged with assault & attempted kidnapping in fed'l court yesterday. The response from the GOP has been limp, either offering condolences but looking past the political rhetoric that spawned the attack or going for outright lies.

2/ Mark Meadows’ challenge to his J6C subpoena was dismissed. Meadows is almost certain to appeal the ruling & the delay makes it unlikely the committee will hear his testimony if Democrats don’t hang onto the House in the midterm elections.

1/ Lots of law going on this week. Yesterday, SCOTUS heard 2 cases involving education & affirmative action. The law is well established in this area, so there's no reason to take a case unless they're going to change the rules. Prepare for longstanding precedent to bite the dust
