There’s almost no question about it. Cambridge Analytica and Facebook definitely amplified the anti-Clinton messaging, but the bedrock of distrust — plus an FBI investigation — were put in place by the absurd over-coverage of Her Emails.
And by the way that opinion is typically only unpopular with journalists who over-covered her emails and vehemently resist allowing our profession to take some responsibility for the way 2016 played out.

That not even close to accurate. President Obama used data collected by a system of willing volunteers and canvassing he didn't mind the data without the knowledge of the owner-to send back misinformation. But if you show that I will retract. You won't be able to.

The unwillingness to take responsibility for their roles in the massive coverage of the emails by those reporters is reflective of the current state of our country. Never admit you're wrong, deny, blame your critics, and then use misdirection. That's Trumpism.
