Black, Latino, indigenous, AAPI and even liberal white Americans’ votes are, in the now settled and open view of the Republican Party, to be discouraged up front via suppression, or tossed out and overriden through violent or autocratic means. Only majority white votes are valid.

That shouldn’t be all that surprising since ironically, what was the party of Lincoln absorbed the old Dixiecrats, confederate pro-slavery dead-enders, and the “new white ethic immigrant” blue collar conservatives who were pitted against Black migrants to northern cities.

What is new is that the modern GOP has become as open faced about their disbelief in the fundamental legitimacy particularly of Black votes, as the Dixiecrats used to be. There’s no more couching it in euphemisms and fake civility. They’re about to shout it in the Senate on 1/6.

And perhaps it’s clarifying and important to understand that. Republicans believe quite openly, that because they are the party of most white Americans, they have a fundamental right to rule this country, regardless of the outcome of elections. They are anti-democracy. Period.

Good to know that, going forward. What Republicans should know, however, is that America’s rising majority — Black, Latino, indigenous, AAPI and the 42-45 percent of collegiate white Americans who are moderate-to-liberal— DO believe in democracy, and are intent on defending it.

There will never be an American king. Republicans will do all they can to break our country and bend it to their will; they have already installed themselves as petit oligarchs, and wrecked a whole lot of fundamentals here, but they will never, ever have their king. Not ever.

That's why they cling so strongly to racism and other isms. Because it means they don't have to care about all of the people who stand outside of their narrow little box. Too bad for them that plugging your ears and la-la-la-ing through life is not a good strategy.
