Found a @facebook #security & #privacy issue. When the app is open it actively uses the camera. I found a bug in the app that lets you see the camera open behind your feed. Note that I had the camera pointed at the carpet.pic.twitter.com/B8b9oE1nbl

Update, I have been able to confirm this across 5 different iPhones all running 13.2.2. I will note that iPhones running iOS 12 don't show the camera (not to say that it's not being used).

Sheesh. Seems very sloppy. Is it reproducible? -
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still does it. If I turn off camera access it shows a black area where it's trying to access the camera. This would also allow Facebook to grab audio from the microphone. If you have the app try it.

@facebook accesses your camera and microphone... This is proof that they are accessing your back camera. They may also be accessing the front camera. If they process that through a facial recognition they could see your actual reaction to posts. - Show replies
