What are some good synonyms for "utils"?
Context: need to fork the "tsutils" package and I want a similar name.

For anybody thinking about getting LASIK - I'd highly recommend it. Not having to futz with glasses is incredible. And the whole thing is surprisingly fast. It's kind of incredible how we're able to just ... *fix* eyeballs. Wild.
Thanks ! β¨

(to be clear, those symptoms are going to get lesser over time until they go away completely - should be mostly gone in a few more days, and I'll be swimming again in a week and a half)

The results are great. My eyes are (as expected) still getting used to it, but I was very functional within a day. No scratchiness (was expected), just some blurriness - especially lights at night (expected).
But, like, I can see! Without glasses!!! Game. Changing. ππ

The surgery itself was quick and at no point did I feel any pain. I have strong blink/flinch instincts so it was harder than usual - but still over pretty quickly. The team was very kind about it. The extra xanax helped.
Waiting room massage chairs were a nice touch! π

Christy in scheduling was fantastic in particular. Walked me through paperwork, made sure I understood it all, went through with a highlighter+pen to clarify important bits. I fumbled asking Compass for meds & Christy quickly made sure I'd get them on time. Thank you! π

Before the surgery: everyone was very polite and clear. Got reminders ahead of time and never felt confused about what was next. + the free wifi was pretty good.
They have a "wait in the car & text us when you get here" system set up. Waiting was never crowded. Good good.

Appreciation thread for (Cherry Hill location). I had LASIK through them on Wednesday and it went great.
This isn't an ad; they didn't ask for this; I'm not being paid. Just very pleased to not have glasses anymore!

Having both a dark mode & a light mode should be an accessibility requirement. I haven't recovered fully from eye surgery and all these light-mode-only apps are *paining* me.

Posted some logo explorations for PhillyJS in our Slack. I'm no designer but still kinda pleased with the direction they're going.
Also I really hope we can fit "the bell of the bool" somewhere in there, it's bringing me giggles...

This debate on using explicit return types in TypeScript is foolish. You shouldn't be using functions in the first place. Just write all your logic in the type system like a real 10x developer. No runtime code, ever. β‘οΈ

tw: eye blood
Had LASIK yesterday. Existing high blink/flinch instinct -> my eyes are now both bloody from squeezing out the equipment a ton. They had to use the eye opener things from A Clockwork Orange.. π
OTOH I can see without glasses!! It's so very nice! Highly recommend.

btw in case anybody is reading this and wondering if I'm being passive aggressive - that is absolutely not what is happening. I am legitimately overjoyed to see this reaction, and have actually used this same phrasing myself to describe other books I've liked β€οΈ

I took January to dive into this very interesting topic: Typescript, and this book from @JoshuaKGoldberg was extremely useful. Iβve never used Typescript before. This book is/was a great introduction. On point and in several places it was funny.

Getting LASIK this week, then going on vacation all of next week. Expect very little from me until the middle/end of February. But a *lot* after then! π€

This is very good advice. When I learned js (and later ts) squashing lint errors taught me so much. I'd add that taking an existing project and turning on the recommended rules, understanding, and fixing the errors will be a worthwhile exercise.

The packages are downloaded an average of ~22.5 million times per week (up ~4m compared to last year).
~73% of users (up 3%) and ~59% of users (up 5%) directly use our tooling.
Year after year I'm astounded by the reach of our project.

TIL you can have an npm package at version 0.0.0. I'd always assumed you had to have at least 0.0.1. π€· cool!
