This is a complicated one for me
@chesaboudin, I want everyone to have the presumption of innocence...and I oppose cash bail, but....the alternative is generally to create a "dangerousness" standard and that can mean MORE people are detained per-trial...what do you support?1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

I think the CA initiative to end cash bail failed bc people see cash bail as a failsafe against tyrannical, biased courts. They see themselves potentially wrongly accused with some godlike algorithm determining yes/no if they can be released, and it’s terrifying, for good reason.

It has been borne out by research that risk assessment algorithms can (not always but it is possible) result in more people detained pre-trial. IMHO people should simply be presumed innocent until proven guilty....call me crazy
