“There is a need for interdisciplinary work at the intersection of social sciences and earth sciences, to understand and improve forecasts and warnings and how they are communicated–to ensure that the nation obtains as much benefit as possible from these earth science advances.”

“Forecasts are beneficial if they are received, understood, and used. Social sciences help us understand how people interact with information and make decisions. This understanding is important in improving weather forecasts and communication that are most beneficial to society.”

Excited (and nervous!) to kick off the talks at today at 1:30 PM. Come learn about the contributions women have made to understanding tropical meteorology, including TCs in vertical wind shear.

Coastal scientists like using simple, conceptual models to describe how storms may affect beaches. In the Sallenger Storm Impact Scale, the "swash regime" describes what we see on a typical day... but what happens when a storm hits? 1/6

Is Boulder really 0.1” away from equaling the all time daily snowfall record?! And it’s still snowing!

Please note for Daily Snowfall Records, they can be subject to different time ranges. Currently for Boulder it's 5 pm to 5 pm, Fort Collins is 7 pm to 7 pm and DIA is Midnight to Midnight. Yes, this can be confusing.
