My neighbors are tired of just building more roads or lanes to “solve” congestion. It doesn’t work. Today I filed a proposed constitutional amendment to allow GA’s motor fuel tax to be used for all public transit purposes. Big vision requires big change.

So excited to hear has introduced a resolution in the Senate to allow use of motor fuel tax revenue for public transit. Sally and I stand with constituents who are dismayed that GDOT is limited to building more express lanes along 285 and 400. We need transit.

One point made here is that even retiring GOP politicians stick with Trump because opposing him would hurt future “earning power.” Is there a better case that our system is corrupt, when political power and economic power converge in this way?

Senate Republicans made their choice. They ignored yours. Their power is temporary. Yours isn’t.

A resident of Fulton County emailed its state legislative delegation with a speech written by her niece, who knew people who died in Parkland. The speech includes a question worthy of reflection: “Who in your life would have to die for you to care about gun violence?”

. and I get along best when we are too distracted to bother each other. Thank you to the not-pictured third party here for the break from giving each other grief.

Sixty years ago today, the Greensboro Four stood up to injustice by sitting down at a lunch counter. Our journey is full of such stories; of acts of patriotic protest that challenge this country we love to live up to our highest ideals, however long it takes.

DNC should at least offer voters a subscriber option called “Democrat Premium” where you can listen to real candidates, ad-free.

Getting a lot of postcards from people who support fair redistricting with an independent commission. My favorite comment so far: “A legislative district should not look like a digesting intestine.” I agree.

I was unaware that lacks the legal authority to commute the sentence of Donnie Lance, who is scheduled to be executed tonight. It’s sad that he lacks that power, but it’s tragic that we still execute people. Georgia does not have to participate in this barbarism.

In Georgia, if the Board of Pardons & Parole decides to grant clemency to someone facing execution, they are required to explain why. But if they don’t grant clemency, they don’t have to explain. You would think the decision that kills someone would require an explanation most?

The lack of attention to GA’s senior care crisis is yet another casualty of Kemp’s austerity budget. Because everyone is trying to put out the fires from the austerity cuts, no attention is being paid to crises GA already needed to solve. 2/2

Have we already forgotten about ‘a unprecedented investigative series into Georgia’s senior care crisis? This was on every House member’s desk this morning to try to remind us, but we aren’t talking about it. 1/2

At the Georgia House, Speaker Ralston-one of most powerful politicians in the state - introduced as the day’s chaplain with what essentially is an endorsement of his Senate run. “He is my friend. He has stood by me when few would. And I don’t forget that.”

He also quoted Commissioner Judy Fitzgerald’s concerns about the proposed eviscerations to GA’s safety net. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing that quite often this week.
