Seems like an excuse to make a comparison. Everyone understands that people are fed up—that the DC establishment has allowed inequality, healthcare costs, racial disparities, and climate change to spiral. This isn’t some novel idea.

I’m not sure why anyone misunderstood Pete’s point. It was clear and accurate btw.
-
Willful misunderstanding is a powerful drug.
-
I don't think anyone willfully misunderstood it, but when CNN's chyron blares "BUTTIGIEG DRAWS COMPARISION BETWEEN TRUMP, SANDERS" and Buttigieg is attending secret "STOP BERNIE" cabals in Washington, you can maybe understand why people might be taking it the wrong way, no?
-
Or maybe if people would read or listen to what he actually said, consider the context and stop using words like "cabal", then others would stop thinking people are willfully misunderstanding? Just a thought.
-
Okay, "STOP BERNIE" meetings... That better? There's no acceptable context to what he said. It was a completely unnecessary thing to say. IMO there's no purpose in saying, essentially, "Sanders supporters are like Trump supporters" unless you're trying to be divisive. and smeary.
-
He literally didn't say that, if you watch the entire clip he just said that people were fed up with the establishment and felt failed, and so both sides of the aisle ended up going for anti-establishment candidates. Which is objectively, obviously, irrefutably true.
-
"Essentially"
-
That has got to be the most pedantic thing I've ever heard in my entire life. How desperate are you to be enraged? You're twisting around an extremely obvious and often-made point on the basis of one word that doesn't change the meaning of the sentence at all. Get a life

Well said Mayor Pete. Although, it pretty much what you said the first time, and the Bernie base got their knickers in a twist.pic.twitter.com/HVwyBIOGlT

Besides we are all entitled to our own opinions. I don't have problem with Bernie. If he wins the nomination, I'll vote for him.

eve Bernie said that himself. "... and they turned to Trump because Trump said things that made sense. He said he was going to take on the establishment, and he was going to provide healthcare to everybody. You know what, it’s pretty much what I said." https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/wjz5dw/bernie-sanders-tax-reform-tour-ohio …pic.twitter.com/okeoPoT7CH

The actual difference and buttedge doesn’t acknowledge it, is that Trump is a fraud business man who campaigned as anti establishment but has governed not too radically different than any other establishment republican. Bernie is the real deal. He’s been the same for decades.
-
I don't know of anyone who says Bernie hasn't been the same for decades, and decades.
@PeteButtigieg isn't comaring Bernie with DJT, btw, he is comparing the drivers that move a significant percent of the supporters for both men, though moving them in opposite directions. -
He is saying that’s why he said, but he implied they are the same. It doesn’t take much to see that. His poll #’s start rising, the media is pushing him now, nytimes article about him being involved in a Stop Bernie campaign, and then this. It’s intentional.
-
He’s intelligent and has the politician doublespeak down. I don’t trust his intentions. It feels to be a planned smear. They have to be sneaky, to not effect the guise of Dem Unity. WaPo started running with this narrative to wedge between progressives & resistance.
-
Yeah, I'm not into conspiracy theories. You do you, though.
-
Go read The NY Times my guy than come back and talk about conspiracies lol I get it tho rather keep your eyes closed. You do you.
-
Not getting sucked into a conspiracies thread trap tonight. Helping my son with his school work is a bit more important.
-
Good on ya. Twitter can do that to you if your not careful. Take care and good luck with your son’s school work. Way to be a good Papa! And... when you have a minute, read this and get back to us:https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/16/us/politics/bernie-sanders-democratic-party.html …
