There are still a lot of Christians who are confused about wokeness. Shouldn't we be against racism? Aren't we supposed to care about injustice? I'm starting a podcast to help explain this ideology.

As soon as I saw that Thomas Sowell was trending I got nervous.
He's 92 years old, so I feared the worst.
But thankfully, he's apparently okay.
Anyway, since he's trending--I'll use that opportunity to encourage you to buy this book.
Clearly, our politicians haven't read it.
The Devil hates strong men of Christian conviction.

A first in my life: Anger after leaving a teaching opportunity. Because I had a bad experience? Nope. Because of the rush of students afterwards giving me evidence confirming that our culture is destroying a generation by the destabilizing and secular fixation on “identity.”

Xian: I'm just not comfortable marrying my faith to these bolt cutters.
Captive: I'm begging you.
Xian: I have no problem with bolt cutters as a normative concept, but feel like their use should be the fruit of the church’s witness.

Thanks to Justin Taylor for letting me write about the Religious Right origin story popularized by Randall Balmer - especially in that scary-looking Politico article from 2014.
The story's jumbled timeline tried to suggest something that didn't happen.

Christians often want practical application.
Here is some from the author’s conclusion — American Christians should have at least one more child on average.

The birth rate of Christians overall is not impressive.
“Religious birth rates simply are not high enough to offset losses from the move to irreligion… Among weekly attending women, the true [birth rate] figure is just 2.1.”

how one thinks about kids is extremely important and revealing for one's political philosophy
as de Jouvenal quipped: many modern political theories "are views of childless men who must have forgotten their own childhood. Society is not founded like a club."

The world is not made up of individuals. Every person is born into a preexisting network of social relationships.
The inability of libertarians to have a proper legal framework for children as anything either than property or full adults is proof of this. twitter.com/antonysammerof…

My own hot take on TGC is that it is the Christian Buzzfeed. It cranks out so much content that the editors can’t maintain any sort of editorial standard, and immature social media staff always end up highlighting and promoting the worst content to generate clicks.

Well done analysis of @TGC’s l’affaire gay marriage article from @BMcGrewvy. In it, she tracks not only concerns about the reasoning in the article’s advice, but how it points to an overall concerning trajectory at TGC.

The left hates James Lindsay because he so effectively articulated and exposed their nonsense beliefs. And the center-left hates him for doing it better than they ever could. He made a lasting impact and he will be present even without an active Twitter account.

If your brand of conservatism has no room for a policy position against events that expose children to the sexual kink performances of adults at libraries or anywhere else, then it is immoral and godless and I want nothing to do with it.

And they want to know why we turn away from their soft, accommodating leadership that seeks always to find ways to avoid proclaiming costly truth with boldness.
Because cowardice masked as winsomeness does not inspire people to follow.

My friend James Lindsay was permanently banned from twitter today.
An activist weaponized the rules by filing reports until something stuck.
We need to talk about why they went after James specifically.

is right: no matter how you describe yourself—Christian, or Bible-believing, or conservative—the left has loaded these terms with vice and malice.
Our task is not to flee, but continue to speak the truth.

Started reading Wanting by this morning about the concept of mimetic desire and why we want the things we want. Now my mind is racing with how this relates to the Biblical imperative not to be conformed to the world. 🤔 🤯

It is beyond frustrating that at a time when women are recognizing how deeply unsatisfying and harmful hookup culture is, many evangelicals are reluctant to talk about God's good plan for sexuality because exvangelicals have convinced them that purity culture is more harmful.
