Is not a myth. The NEC came up with some new rules at last minute to stop Joanne from standing. They got rules that if you are standing for Holyrood and you are an MP then you first must resigns as an MP to be able to stand. No after you get the seat but before you go for it

They will still have to stand down before going for the election. Meaning that their staff will lose the job during a pandemic. Is Neil prepare to do that?

Your an answer is wrong. MP must resign if selected therefor making very difficult for them to stand. Which is the same thing as not being able to stand.

It's his staff who I feel bad for, being made redundant like that because of a new NEC rule.

Hi folks, for clarity MPs who secure candidacy do not have to resign straight away upon selection. They would resign 3 months before the election date which would do two things: 1. Enable a by-election to be triggered the same day as the SP2021 election, saving public funds

2. Ensure the MP's staff would have salary to cover them during the 3 month wind down period as staff receive 3 months salary upon being made redundant
