I’m in a place of education regarding trans issues. I don’t openly comment, I’m still too ignorant to do so. On the issues, I look for resolve, I debate in my thoughts. I’ve never spoken to a trans person to my knowledge. I need education. I’m on that journey.

Driving seems to be my thinking time. While driving today I said to myself ‘you can’t have an opinion until you get fully educated’... once this thought crossed my mind I was shocked at myself. It had connotations of LGBTI struggle and history. Of abstaining, of apathy.

Yes I need to better understand struggles and concerns, but seriously do I need to logically asses wether a group needs defending? We get blind sided by detail while oppression occurs. Let’s address the issue of predators as it is. It’s separate to trans equality.

Why is everything boiled down to sexual preference? Why are LGBTI people seen as potential sexual predators more than straight folk? We are all sexual beings. Let’s look at society, culture, media, advertising, porn, toxic masculinity. Consent and respect.

Yes there are details... changing rooms - change the set up? Sports - compete on ability level not gender? Let’s have the discussion in a safe place. Without fear of looking ignorant or stupid or bigoted. Less attacking and defensiveness, more understanding, compassion for ALL
