Get ready for employers to simply hire one person instead of two, and work that one person twice as hard because they don’t want to pay $23 twice. $15 is a perfectly reasonable *minimum* wage. $23 would destroy brick and mortar retail and restaurants, especially small business.
-
And I say that as someone who starts people at $14, has people making up to $20, does yearly $1 raises, and does time and a half monthly if goals are hit. I could do $23, but a fuckton of other businesses would simply close or go online only if $23 became the minimum.

Why not make it $100/hr.? Or $200?

Exactly. Been saying it since research found in 1993 (the year before rent control was eliminated) that it took a HoH +$17/hr. to support a family of 4 living in Cambridge, MA.

I know min wage needs raised. My question is how is raising it kept from starting a cycle of prices raising and so on thus putting us right back to where we are now? Just seems like the start of a domino effect.
