Then we need to stop lobbing them and make an END RUN around them by taking the issue directly to the parent-child interface.

I think the best solution is to go to the source and hit ‘em where it hurts; right in the pocket book. This isn’t going to end until it’s a liability to drs rather than an asset. ‘Till then, the best you can do is beg or harass parents not to cut. Good luck with that.

How do you plan to do that? People tried to stage a boycott of Olympic Circumstraint in the 90s which went nowhere. And no, it is about providing severe negative consequences for circumcising your kids & radicalizig young people against circumcision. Look at my tweet last night.

“...it is about providing severe negative consequences for circumcising your kids...” You think it’s feasible to “provide severe negative consequences” for parents who agree to have their children circumcised, rather than indict the few who actually do it?

My solution: 1. Mobilize medical organizations in the West to grow a pair and condemn the practice. This seems likely to happen given increased talks of bans. 2. Mobilize men who resent their circumcision to speak out; men in the world must unite and hold their feet to the fire.

Seems to me nobody really knows how to take intactivism to the next level, and so a multi-prong approach might be best where we all just try whatever we think we can do and see who has the most success after a few years.
-
That’s kinda been intactivism for the last few decades... we *have* come a long way for sure, but I think we’ve plateaued. I think the reason for this might *be* that we’re trying all these things. Too many channels open...

I think we need to narrow down to what is most effective and concentrate on that. The problem is intactivists can’t seem to agree on what that is; everyone thinks their idea is the best.

The problem is may of them, at least the ones that don't do both, agree FGM is wrong. It boggles my mind the cognitive dissonance where you can agree that mutilating genitals of a non-consenting minor are wrong, but only when it applies to girls.
-
It’s not too surprising that proponents of a practice minimize their purported practice, and condemn a practice they don’t do.

No, not really is it. Still the dissonance is depressing, the clinging to cultural training while understanding everything we say is true, when it applies to girls not boys.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. If intactivists were organized, they would focus on ending Medicaid coverage for forced genital mutilation.

In the documentary “cut”, a (Jewish) circumciser says it is unethnically and abusive, but he does it anyway.
