The existing camps in #Dadaab are overcrowded. We need to relocate new arrivals from Somalia who are currently living on the outskirts of Dadaab into the camps. UNHCR and partners are offering basic assistance but much more needs to be done.

I lost count of the roadside spots with decomposing carcasses of camels, goats, giraffes, warthogs, sheep, cows. In two instances, young girls hearding overly wasted goats 🐐 stretched their hands with empty bottles begging for water. Sad.

Today I was at Nyarugusu camp, Tanzania. It hosts 130,000 Burundian and Congolese refugees. Much progress since my last visit: we’ll keep working with authorities and partners to improve the lives of refugees and hosts, and seek durable solutions including voluntary repatriation.
