    If you draw a semi-transparant background each frame everything fades out over time. It looks pretty cool and isn't expensive performance-wise.

    Also, I still long for another game where you can play as each boss you defeat. It's what made MegaMan ZX Advent my favorite MegaMan.

    The more abstract/different your game is, the more you have to teach. Even simple stuff like hp hearts can easily be missed if they don't appear on the screen where people expect them, so you have to draw extra attention to them.

    Instead, I now give each mechanic a clear indication. You get a custom cursor if you have to play with the mouse. Points you collect move to your score across the screen. Your hp heart explodes everywhere when you get hit. Etc., you only learn these things through playtesting.

    This is by far my favorite entertainment game of the year, and yet it seems few people played it :/ I highly recommend it for everyone who likes fast-paced arcade action!

    Bad often suprises me with novel topics that make me ask questions, sometimes even benefitting from its bad writing. Like a stereotype villain who mourns for a lost minion, suddenly looking humane. Though it hurts to see stories often gloss over it. Any experiences?

    This is one of my biggest frustrations with the game industry, I see so much potential in almost every person I meet that it keeps baffling me how quickly I forget about most games. I guess we've gotten so spoiled with the amount of quality available that only the best stand out.

    I'm curious, can any think of a game where "level up faster" is a suitable level-up option? Sure, it gives players more control over their progression, but it makes all other options seem like a waste. So I always pick it, even when it tends to harm the difficulty curve
