It’s good but I think people desire attention “innately,” or nearly innately. It’s very close to the metal. Social media facilitates connections, but when social media reveals a cluster of affiliated people, it strikes me more as discovery than manufacture

There is definitely an innate component to it. There's no escaping biological desires. To me, it's both. Social media guides, and amplifies the specific interactions (behaviors) that generate the most engagement. It's essentially sub groups all attempting to sacrifice each other.
