People with “founder mentality” can’t rest once a problem or opportunity is identified. They take on personal responsibility without complaint, learn and recruit skills as needed, and deliver results despite politics. There is unlimited global demand for founder mentality.

But how do you sell it as a skill? Most companies are looking for employees that fit nicely on the shelf and do what they are told. This goes especially for young people.

It's a hard skill to tell, but an easy one to show - over time. If you're an employee, you solve your bosses problems without being asked. You bring them solutions, rather than problems. You identify new problems and solve those, too.

The most difficult problem imo, is to find an employer/manager with integrity. This is exceedingly difficult when everyone has a 30yr mortgage in Silicon Valley.
