What on earth can be done to make the public trust journalists more? How about flipping the question: What can journalists do to be more trustworthy? I have a suggestion. Whenever possible, publish full audio, video, or text of interviews. (Redact any off-the-record portions.)

I don't think that's strictly true because a lot of journalists are earnest true believers. (Once the scales fell from my eyes, I quickly got burnt out and had to leave the industry. I just couldn't do it.) But I take your point because yes, the economic incentives are powerful

I’m sure there are plenty of well-intentioned journalists. But there’s also plenty of well-intentioned Monsanto and Goldman Sachs employees too. The problem is a misalignment of economic incentives on a global scale of information dissemination.
