UFO phenomena give us epistemic humility and a sense of awe. Sure most sighting are probably hallucinations or lies, but still, there's something there, either mythological or extraterrestrial, that escapes our full comprehension. UFO documentaries opens your mind/creativity.

Parasomnia and accessing alternative dimensions/entities are also not mutually exclusive. DMT can make your body immobile while you interact with alien beings in alternate space that feel more real than anything in real life.
-
Yeah, 5-meo-DMT, DMT, ayahuasca, etc., lots of things can induce the feeling of communicating w/ aliens, elves, other entities, etc. doesn't mean these things are real.
-
It depends on what you define as "real" and it's also unclear if knowing how real something is matters for survival. How real are concrete objects relative to abstract ideas? You can always rationalize away trip experiences after them, yet never capture the full experience.
-
I don't think you can fully capture any experience as in reduce it to words or what have you.

Parasomnias can induce psychedelic-type experiences. So can a lot of things. And people lie and confabulate. Just no good evidence.
