UFO phenomena give us epistemic humility and a sense of awe. Sure most sighting are probably hallucinations or lies, but still, there's something there, either mythological or extraterrestrial, that escapes our full comprehension. UFO documentaries opens your mind/creativity.

There's more to it. I'm reading
@MichaelAaronK's thesis on this. He could talk about all the complexity/dimensions of the topic for hours nonstop. -
Will have to look into it. Not an expert, just opinions. Context is certainly relevant.. like seeing something in a trip would be psychologically completely different from a dream state imo. Have heard stories of ketamine experiences often producing ufo experiences.

Curious if
@PereGrimmer has had a firsthand psychedelic experience -
Sure, many.

What, if any, relationship do you think exists been parasomnias and psychedelic experiences? Point being, even if you deconstruct some % of “ufo sightings” to parasomnia, that still leaves entire “alien encounters” etc, under psychedelics unaccounted for.
-
Parasomnia and accessing alternative dimensions/entities are also not mutually exclusive. DMT can make your body immobile while you interact with alien beings in alternate space that feel more real than anything in real life.
-
Yeah, 5-meo-DMT, DMT, ayahuasca, etc., lots of things can induce the feeling of communicating w/ aliens, elves, other entities, etc. doesn't mean these things are real.
-
It depends on what you define as "real" and it's also unclear if knowing how real something is matters for survival. How real are concrete objects relative to abstract ideas? You can always rationalize away trip experiences after them, yet never capture the full experience.
