Steps to growth: 1| Pursue scientific reason. 2| Recognize the limits of scientific reasoning. 3| Treat the unproven with a beginners mind. Most are lost in the first. Many are discouraged by the second. Few make it to the third.

Constraining fact-finding to data shapes the outcome though. If fact-finding was based on words, or philosophy, the outcome would be different. Does data lead to better outcomes? Worse?

Thinking in terms of better or worse seems wrong minded to me.. of course we can observe data that produces reproducible results... in this moment.. given all current assumptions still hold. “Data” from observation is dependent upon many known/unknown factors.
