5| Humans display/transmit signals in order to attain social rank among the hierarchy they are competing; professional, personal, and mate-seeking. This concept manifests itself in social media through virtue-signaling, political posts, shaming, wealth displays, etc.

I like this part of your arguments: "Because people are defining themselves metaphysically by social-justice/politics, and once emotional, you are vulnerable to coercion". It is like post-truth society that simply can't escape from emotion and reject facts
-
If you pay attention, you can watch yourself react to stimuli... This is a mechanism of coercion in social systems. It is being applied to social media. The first step in growth is to observe the wave of emotions; the wise let it pass.
-
All humans are born into an immature reactive mode of being. We can mature out of our habits and routines. Humans aren't good at recognizing and respecting maturity.

Great thread Jordan. But there's something about the interconnectedness argument I feel is still shaky. One's participation in this network is limited by one's mastery of English. We're still separated by our failure to understand each other, in this example, linguistically.
-
There’s a point there but I don’t think it’s as much of a problem as you think, and it will certainly be overcome with time/tech. I used to work specifically on designing translation filters on social networks, and just a simple google translate works 90+% for nearly everything.

Fuggin' well said dude. My only fear, well, my biggest concern rather, is that this is all dependent on electricity, and our power grid is extremely vulnerable to all sorts of things, man-made and from outer space.
-
This is a real threat that people do not take seriously and one that we have to plan for, imminently.

Looking forward to AI solving the human resource problem. Too much wisdom is hidden in the noise. Humans are not good at allowing the signal to rise out of the background noise.
-
Its not often u hear someone say "looking forward to AI wrt ...". I feel viewpoints like this are worth exploring, and I am interested in hearing what people have to say about it (for, against, neutral, undecided).

Or someone could just grow the fsck up mentally & get a fscking hobby that doesn't require social media like watch collecting, the shooting sports, motorcycle riding, bicycle riding, marathon running, weightlifting, amateur auto racing, etc. This shit ain't hard.
