The entire point of Section 230 is to put the liability on the party actually responsible. In your case, it was the blogger who allegedly defamed you. You chose not to sue that person, and chose to sue the tool they used instead. Wrong party.

If the party (author) wrote the smear on his own no-name website, we wouldn't be having this conversation bc none of what happened in terms of my career being destroyed would have ensued. What you're advocating is for JOURNALISTIC media outlets to have blanket immunity...
