In trying to get rid of private health insurance, Bernie will fail hard like he has since the beginning. Political strategy is an absolute necessity for progress, and Bernie has no respect for it. Yang's plan to slash the true costs of care is FAR more viable, bipartisan, likely!

Twitter isn’t real life—the severity on this topic against Yang isn’t what I hear when I canvas for Yang. Previous Bernie supporters are supporting Yang b/c of his healthcare strategy. Not here to debate it. Just to say, anecdotally, it isn’t all or nothing for most IRL.

No, silly, this is how you know we care about getting things passed rather than spinning our wheels. It's reasonable to take the most viable path forward and win rather than the ideal path and lose, which has been Bernies fatal flaw throughout his career.

what in the world makes you think universal basic income is the most viable path that would pass House or the Senate? Neither chamber would vote for that. #MedicareForAll has majority support in the country and if Bernie was elected, he has the political organization to actually

It's already passed in deep red Alaska (Repubs) and ends poverty forever (Dems) - also happens to help pay for health insurance and medical bills/debt, and for most people would surpass the average health cost.

It passed Alaska decades ago and is from their oil money--doesn't mean it will pass on a federal level. And Yang presented UBI as extra spending money to stimulate the economy and bolster people's freedom...not pay for exploding healthcare costs that his plan allows to continue

And the right form of UBI is as an ADD ON for the most vulnerable...not as a tradeoff where people would have to give up their SSI or other programs. You're buying into the messenger without understanding the fine print

Yang's UBI is an add-on, silly! It trades out cash and cash-like programs, everything else stays:pic.twitter.com/V6mT28ckPg

"if you're already receiving some forms of government aid — such as food stamps or TANF — then under Yang's plan you would choose to keep your current benefits or take the $1,000-a-month UBI instead. "

It's not ideal for me either, instead, and to my original point, he designed it to appeal to as many as possible so that it will pass - he did not pick a side and fight for a losing idea like Bernie does over and over again.

Fact is that over time it would have likeyl be supported by more progressive tax hikes, increasing the clawback, decreasing the number of higher income people who actually benefit. This is not a talking point that would be useful to raise on the campaign trail.
