I believe in UBI but not Yang’s version which would make most vulnerable choose bw taking social welfare $ they need OR $1K per month. $12k/year is great but not enough to live. I also disagree with his automation/jobless economy is inevitable mindset https://twitter.com/kwisatzhc/status/1168583010578358274?s=21 …

Automation and a jobless economy is inevitable if you have a defeatist attitude and allow corporations (who have bought our government) to do whatever the hell they want and lay off however many they want. A true leader would not let corporations do as they please and would set

Sane regulations on them as far as a baseline # of workers they must keep based on their revenue and profits

UBI changes how we view a highly automated future from a bleak dystopia to the Jetsons. And that's the point - robots are better at doing work than humans. Why would we stop corporations from letting robots do the work if we can capture the resources we want without working?

$12k/year is per adult, so households would have more. And I view that as just the beginning. That number should be indexed against GDP or a more targeted automation metric and will increase over time.

The reality is that this is and will happen. Too many people, too few jobs. Need to be realistic about population growth by birth and immigration.

I'm a bernie supporter but he definitely gets this wrong. You can't be a leader in the world and have people follow your lead if you don't have economic superiority. Automation will lead to jobless economy, you can't regulate that without giving China the title of world leader

I'm not saying UBI is the answer but guaranteed federal jobs is an 80s solution to a 2020s problem. Human work is not valued as much which is the reason why we need public education to reach higher so we become world leader in generating cloud companies for the 5g environment

I don't know about jobless economy. But corporate preference for automation is growing and it will grow despite any government coming to power. You can't stop that. It's government's responsibility to sense the depth of the problem & take care of people who might get affected

People need to be responsible for themselves not government.
