Are people really angry at Biden for mangling his words when trying to say poor black kids are as bright as rich white ones? Or just pretending to be angry?

I've seen way more people expressing concern about his competence as a candidate than outrage over his ostensibly accidental racist implication.

the former I get, I was trying to figure out how much of the latter was being mixed in. It seemed like at least some, bit I couldn't quite tell.

Yeah, I'm sure there's some. Some of the MSM coverage did frame the story as "Biden gets racially problematic again" rather than "Biden is losing his decade-long struggle with foot-in-mouth disease."https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/biden-tells-minority-voters-in-iowa-that-poor-kids-are-just-as-bright-as-white-kids/2019/08/09/4926be02-ba8e-11e9-a091-6a96e67d9cce_story.html?noredirect=on …

Even aside from the normative issue, I wonder if it's tactically counterproductive. Biden supporters might be more reluctant to defect on age/competence if they think he's being attacked unfairly.

If Biden supporters number one priority is beating Trump, you don’t think they would defect if it becomes apparent Biden is in cognitive decline against one of the sharpest salesman/marketers in political history?
