His point was the 1000 a month would help those on the cusp not need EBT etc therefore the program will have more resources for those in deeper poverty. His VAT scares me bec it would offset a lot of the 1K/mth

Assuming prices on all goods go up same as VAT you're looking at a ten percent increase. You'd have to be spending about 80k a year on goods for that to balance. This would be huge for the majority of Americans.
