Any Politician from a flyover state that votes for this is history in 2020. Popular vote means CA and NY run the country, not such a good idea.

Entrenching coastal elitism & urban disenfranchisement from rural communities. Dems obviously haven't understood Founding Fathers' intention behind EC.

95%+ of the population lived in rural areas at the time, but yeah keep believing that the founders were worried about cosmopolitan elites and under-represented wealthy landowners.

Can't wait to hear some dems reasons why they oppose it.

While it's certainly frustrating to have millions more popular votes and lose the election, what is your proposed solution to protect the interests of small states and rural voters if the EC is eliminated? Not all of the reasons it was created are obsolete.

Name some of those endangered interests. The electoral college and its whole "protect the small states against the big states" rationale came from a time when the states considered themselves direct competitors, and practically sovereign. That world doesn't exist anymore.

Finally maybe we can also get rid of the Senate and make the house have multi member districts and more proportional representation.

Without the EC we will no longer be a single country. The flag no longer unites; it's only the constitution. Period. No way the Red states stay without representation and more to the point the ability to not just be heard but implement change. It will be the end.
