Actually, privilege is spouting off on Twitter like u know what’s ACTUALLY happening in America. I have seen the REALITY on road for 3 years now. Hate to break it—U.S. was in CRISIS in cities/communities-the type that don’t trend on Twitter—BEFORE Trump.https://twitter.com/zsusk/status/1016528498788372480?s=21 …

Jordan I agree, but the racism/sexism/etc. is accelerating, Previously it was one step forward two steps back and now its just many steps back. I appreciate your lonely reportage on Flint, etc., but POC/women/lgtbq are now more terrified than ever on top of all the previous crap.

100% agree with this and in NO WAY want to minimize this. What Trump stands for and is inciting in large swath of Americans is beyond vile and dangerous. There is no argument from me the rhetoric and racism would be this overt under a President Clinton-it wouldn’t.

I don’t pretend to know what it’s like for POC and other vulnerable communities. But I do think a lot of the scary racism, sexism, and general bigotry was always there but just not openly incited by a sitting President.

And as bad as it is in these areas—we are also seeing unprecedented levels of activism, progressive energy and protest not seen since 1960s/70s. You can’t battle bigotry if everyone is asleep. I try my best to show how much I care about the most vulnerable through what I cover

But I understand that I don’t have same experience/fears of Trump as POC and other minorities. I try my best not to minimize those and show by my actions, story selection, and communities I go to what I care about and what I stand for
