Must read: Secret NYPD files show what we've known all along. Scandalous lack of discipline for brutality, perjury & other serious offenses HUNDREDS of NYPD found guilty of most serious offenses (eg lying to grand juries, police brutality) NOT fired: kept their jobs/ benefits

Past few weeks there's been a misinformation campaign by cops (w/DAs & Republicans) to try to roll back brand NEW bail law. We reject their racist, fearmongering efforts. We're calling on Albany to take the next step to increase police accountability.

Too often we have failed to succeed in enacting common sense policies because such reform is misrepresented as attacking the police, or prosecutor. While I know common sense no longer exists in the White House, I know it still exists here in Albany. Pass the .

A non-violent thief who can post $3,000 bail is no more threatening than one who can't. The money is irrelevant; being poor doesn't make a defendant inherently more dangerous. But as practiced, NY’s legal system has long operated as if poverty equals danger

Today we remember . He was a young Black man grabbing his wallet when racist NYPD cops shot him 41 times. He should be alive today. We thank his mom Kadiatou Diallo for continuing to fight to hold NYPD accountable for her son's murder & for us all.

Wondering when NYPD Commissioner Shea will come out and blast this judge (and ) for allowing a dangerous criminal back on the streets without bail. Ah wait, it's a cop this time, so of course the fearmongering wouldn't apply.
