Am supportive of much greater control of the region’s buses and would investigate the franchising benefits and costs in our region. Before Covid, bus subsidies in London were £75 per person per year and in Bristol £2 per person. This gap won’t be closed by franchising alone.

I led a campaign asking the Mayor to back a franchising model. We achieved the 3,500 signatures for a debate at Full Council, but Labour amended the motion to remove any commitment to franchising.
