Do you actually mean a range of views, or do you actually mean Facebook rants exclusively from drivers as if they’re views are the only ones that count? Local residents have a range of views, you certainly won’t get those from Jon.https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/drivers-bid-farewell-a34-perry-19785201 …

Then there were the users of the X51 and other express buses, which made very clever use of the flyover. And the pedestrians who crossed safely under the A34 rather than across it. There will be many more of them in the future. Not exclusively drivers.

Also how many times a day will the people from the new housing press a button to cross. More congestion. Once again the flyover took non Perry Barr traffic over and away.

That’s really not how pedestrian crossings work at busy intersections. Pedestrian crossing lights are integrated in to the traffic flow lights, the amount of times the button is pressed has zero relation to how often the lights change, they will be changing anyway for traffic.

Also this constant car first attitude is why the city is such a polluted mess.

With no disrespect i am anti you but you have not been blocked so i can give you a chance. You are however suffering from tunnel vision and thats coming from a flyover. Are there any electric planes.... no...so cars are progressing quicker.

You keep totally missing the point, it isn’t just about what files a vehicle, it’s the space that vehicle takes up. There’s no room for more cars electric or otherwise, we need less private cars not more. If you can’t engage with the actual argument, don’t bother replying.

Actually you need to make your case. Too easy to mix up air pollution, climate change and congestion issues. They overlap but too often the arguments are confused and so are the public.

I don’t need to make my case, just look out of the window. If you think the solution to a city in grid lock is more (electric) cars then you’re an utter fool. Less cars and better public transport is the only solution. Stop thinking front he point of view of a metal box.

I want better public transport, preferably good rail access and high speed electric express buses. I'm also a liberal who believes in freedom of movement and choice, where possible. That includes the choice of good public transport, which I spent years working for.

The X51 and 997 were terrific templates for using the highway for mass transit.
