@1oldcodger asking about holiday free school meals, pointing out it was the Lib Dems who had meals extended to all infants and asking why the council could not get its vouchers out for half term. @brumlibdems #bcclive @WMLibDems

Unclear from the answer that the council has the money to pay for the vouchers it promised.

I asked
@BrumLeader to clarify but it's still unclear whether the council is able to afford vouchers for all eligible children as it promised. Best answer, of course, is for the government to run a national scheme as new lockdown will only increase child poverty.1 antwoord 1 retweet 1 vind-ik-leukDeze collectie tonen -

You clearly misunderstand. We have stepped in and covered the cost of free school meals for the October half-term. However - as both myself and
@Harborne_Jayne stated - we are now lobbying the Government not to abandon these children at Christmas.1 antwoord 0 retweets 1 vind-ik-leuk -

Don't just read the headline. The vouchers will be retrospective but no family will be out of pocket. We didn't abandon these children - the Government did.

Good but it's not just the headline. The BBC piece was quite thorough. Labour does have a history of overpromising on free school meals in Brum so it would be good to put that behind us.
