Birmingham Live is feeling pretty hostile to public transport, tackling climate change and addressing pollution at the moment. It's sad, really. A funny way of serving your place, pretending some of it's greatest challenges don't exist.

It's because the council leadership is being incredibly confrontational with the public. No serious attempt to build support for changes. It can be done.

So, I am not referring to just one thing. Even little changes like bus lanes get the same level of pushback. It's exhausting.

It would be unwise of me to weigh in on the more controversial schemes. But on the whole, I expect the local paper to advocate for public transport and tackling climate change, even if they (fairly) report disputes over specific schemes.

Simple example. No point in briefing ward councillors if you are not sensitive to their advice on what will cause concern. TfWM has learnt in last year, BCC still stuck in old ways.
