There’s a huge petition against it. I’m sure people who live nearby will tell you. I live in #Lozells and the backlog of traffic is immense which leads to idling traffic and toxic air. If the flyover comes down, it will get worse, and some journeys taking hours.

proof it will be worse, removing the flyover … maybe people use cars less ? I go through it 4 times a week ! the flyover only really helps people bypass PB look at the plans and tell me how you remodel Birchfield island without removing it or do you think that should stay as it

Even the council's optimistic modelling doesnt really show the new A453/A34 lights improving things - and One Stop doesnt have space to hold queues for the lights at peak times.

It does allow redevelopment but 1. the current roads alignment is well-designed and effective and 2. there is other space to move some of the new development into. Is it wise to build hundreds of flats in a high-pollution bottleneck?

Pretty much unavoidable. Maybe the traffic lights could be tweaked a bit. The tailback will probably be back to Streetly once the flyover's gone!

nah disagree because all you do is to redirect it the the same road a bit earlier - the real issue - too many cars

Well yes, getting commuters out of cars is vital. But the city does still need some traffic arteries, and clogging up one of them isn't very sensible.

thats the exact same argument when Paradise circus closed, they were proved wrong … and in fact that created a massive building boom when rest of the country is in recession

Paradise Circus, centenary square, well managed?

depends how you managed … in terms of how CS now looks, yes (costs are different) and for PC they had to do that to get the Tram down there, do you disagree with that and seen all that new building … not car users
