It is alleged in the
#Lozells Community, where I live, that the Cabinet Member for Transport, does not want the Perry Barr flyover to come down.1 antwoord 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks -

There’s a huge petition against it. I’m sure people who live nearby will tell you. I live in
#Lozells and the backlog of traffic is immense which leads to idling traffic and toxic air. If the flyover comes down, it will get worse, and some journeys taking hours.1 antwoord 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks -

proof it will be worse, removing the flyover … maybe people use cars less ? I go through it 4 times a week ! the flyover only really helps people bypass PB look at the plans and tell me how you remodel Birchfield island without removing it or do you think that should stay as it

Even the council's optimistic modelling doesnt really show the new A453/A34 lights improving things - and One Stop doesnt have space to hold queues for the lights at peak times.

and Jon the point is remove the flyover allows massive redevelopment … there will be disruption but remeber the panic over paradise circus, guess what … over played …and all those new builds ?

It does allow redevelopment but 1. the current roads alignment is well-designed and effective and 2. there is other space to move some of the new development into. Is it wise to build hundreds of flats in a high-pollution bottleneck?

which after this they will not be … as local councillor Jon is seeing the biggest investment in Perry Barr’s history …. just as the area was looking doomed (even housing on the former diary) and part of the is to remove the flyover which encourages car use

Prior to CG the investment was being blocked by council. BCU wanted it. So did local councillors. Look at dairy site planning history. Council wants to control everything, thats problem. This is not city centre.
